Default What does 90 in lbs feel like?

I finally got a torque wrench and am tightening the lug nuts on my wheels. I think the spec is 90 in lbs. Well it feels a lot lighter than I used to tighten them or for that matter the way they were tightened from the factory.

Is the spec I have close? Is 90 in lbs something a 2 year old can handle? Or am I adjustting my torque wrench all wrong?

Default Hold a 90 lb weight attached to a 1' bar...that's what it feels like.

Default I hope you're using a large enough torque wrench...some of the more precise ones read in (in/lbs)

but those are good for putting in spark plugs and such...not wheel bolts. You should torque to 90 lb-ft if you don't have the proper torque wrench just put em on tight with the stock bar.

If you need a larger torque wrench Harbor Freight and Tool sells them at a great price... www.harborfreight.com

Default If your torque wrench is larger/longer than your regular tire wrench,

it will take less effort to exert the same force and that can make it feel like you're not tightening the bolts as hard. I suspect most people over tighten without a torque wrench and never know it.
