DIN stands for Deutche Industriel Normale (sp?) - German Industrial Standard. In car-radio speak, DIN refers to the size of the dash cutout and the mounting rail screw hole locations. There are a few DIN types:
Euro-DIN units slide in from the front using the metal sleeve attached to the dash.
ISO-DIN (more acronyms!) use side-support rails inside dash.
There is yet another DIN size, with a larger dash opening.
Audi A4 uses Euro-DIN size inside, and a larger faceplate unique to Audi. Regular DIN radios will fit, but you will need a faceplate spacer. I believe Scosche sells those.
Good luck,
Boris
97 A4 1.8TQMS Silver, Xenons on order
