Default it keeps the manual tranny from moving during driving....
hold your shifter when you are driving...you can feel it move as you climb in RPMs. This gets eliminated with the DTS. The overall shifting feel is tighter. When you accelerate hard from a slow spped/stop, the car doesn't buck as much due to the tranny being stabilized. Pricey, but nice part.

Default I'd be concerned about a compromise in crash safety...
Specifically cabin intrusion... the transmission is designed to ride underneath of the cabin space in an accident to both absorb impact energy and prevent lots of steel from ending up in your lap... some parts are supposed to move :-)
