shortens the throw from gear to gear, do a search.

Default it reduces the throw required to change gears...
just alot quicker/smoother shifts... in some cases it will also shorten the height of the shifter.. so it doesn't stand so tall

The majority of the results were just about people buying short shifters not really what they did

Default mmmhmmm...thats what i just got done installing a few hours ago ;)
ok, well actually it was the $25 ebay version. but, really it's just as good. my only complaint is that 2nd and 4th gear don't feel right but im sure with some adjustment it'll be fine...oh yeah and it was a real bitch getting out those front shifter housing bolts in my 99.0, i'm sure a 2000 and up would be a piece of cake to install.

They shorten the throw, but they sharpen the feel of shifts a lot.
