Planning on a 2000 A4. Don't want to pay
$1500 for a 150 watt bose. I think the money
can be better spend on aftermarket stero.
Does anyone have any suggestion that can replace
the A4 stock radio?

Sounds like either the dealer is trying to pull a fast one or there's a problem with your install.
There are plenty of people here (me included) that have aftermarket installs. I don't recall
anyone frying the AC blower because of it, not to say that it can't happen! Just sounds like
they can't find the problem so they're trying to stick the blame on someone else.

The news archive says that the '00MY has a double din headunit. You can either install a
double din size h/u or take two single din size units and stack them. You'd probably get a lot
more choices if go with a din sized h/u and a signal processor or eq.
