They called and said it would flake off...I told them I know it can be done because tons of people on audiworld have it done. They just want to know what kind of flex agent or whatever should be used to make the paint stick. Help me audiworld! I can't go somewhere else because the car is getting fixed under insurance there already.

the flex agent goes in the clear to keep it from curing rock hard. Having said that, I have used DuPont Chroma clear on plastic and fibreglass with no flaking. Its all in the prep. If they scuff the plastic well enough, and use a flexible adhesion promoter, it should be fine.

them on the car or remove them. Any other things I should let them know about? They said they would do it...but wouldn't warranty it like the other stuff because it would be painting on rubber. What technique etc should I tell them to do. Any particular brand of flex agent? Or is that a pretty generic thing to use.

We use PPG paints in our shop. Their ICI line to be exact. We use the ICI flex agent on every plastic part we paint. My paint can actually add more for specific repairs to keep paint from chipping on lover valances and bumpers.

u can paint a piece of plastic with urethane paint with no flex in it and bend it almost in half and it wont crack. maybe ur thinking of adhesion promoter which wont be needed if the substrate is prepped properly.
