Default What kind of grease to use on short shifter install?

I am putting in an ebay kit and see in the b&m install link to use grease. I have some white engine grease, but not sure if that can be used for metal to plastic applications.. thanks

Did you put the isolator boot back on? The part that was really tough to take off the old shifter.

Default Has anyone had a reason to clean their SS

I've had mine for 3 years now and wondered if there's any maintenance that I should do from time to time.

Default Let me know how your install turns out when it's all done, mine is bein weird (more)

I haven't pulled it apart again yet, but I can actually move the shifter up and down in the neutral position, making it taller or shorter. When it's shorter, it's a lot harder to shift, and sometimes won't come out of gear. When I make it slightly taller, the throw remains the same, but it becomes more smooth and easier to shift than the stock shifter. :-/

Default Here's what made it easier for me to line up the linkage:

Put the bolt that has the large silver square washer (the one that connects the shifter to the tranny linkage) about in the middle of the slotted hole it goes in. Tighten it, but don't torque on it. The upper bolt should be just about smack in the middle of its adjustment setting. Now test the shifter through gears, and look at it from the side to check positioning for the boot. Worked well for me. Re-tighten, and reassemble. Done. :-)
