Default What kind of oil detergent do you guys suggest?

I'm running Mobil 1 0w40 right now, but until my car warms up a bit, it ticks like CRAZY - especially when I accelerate anything more than driving in traffic.

Also, if I drive slowly for periods of time (under 15 mph for more than a few minutes), my oil pressure light comes on in the center dash computer, but then goes away after a second. Could this be my oil pump going out?

Default Probably something obstructing the oil pick up line.

I would probably take the oil pan out, and clean/inspect the pick up line. I wouldn't mess around with additives and such. If there is something causing an oil pressure light to go on, you want to fix it ASAP!

Default In your opinion, how difficult is it to remove the oil pan? Just a few bolts?

Is there a gasket that needs replacing once you take it off? TIA

Default I haven't done it.

But I've read several accounts of oil pan headaches. The answers you're looking for are in the archives. If you spend some time searching, I'm sure you'll find everything you need.

Default you may have to rotate engine by hand to get pan off...

iirc #1 cyl needs to be on compression stroke. the screen on the oil pickup is the usual suspect here oil coke which looks like black plastic.

Default There was a shop up in LA (45 mins from here) that quoted $400 parts and labor...

to replace the oil pump. seems like a decent deal to me.
