There seems to be some disagreement about the HP limit for the automatic transmission on the 1.8TQ. I have been told the limit is anywhere from 220HP to 250HP. Anyone know which is correct.<p>I would like to do the K04 upgrade but maybe it is too much HP for my tranny.

The A4 tiptronic is identical for both the 1.8T and 2.8. I received a spec sheet directly from ZF (the manufacturer) on this trans, which is model # 5 HP 19. The K04 upgrade would be pushing it IMO. Here are the pertinent specs:<p>Transmission capacity:<br>T(max) Engine at 3500 rpm = 310 Nm<br> (229 ft-lbs)<br>P(max) at 5500 rpm = 169 kW<br> (230 HP)<br>n(max) in 1st to 4th gear = 6540 rpm<br>n(max) in 5th gear = 5000 rpm<br>n(max) KD shift = 6000 rpm<br>T(max) Turbine = 540 Nm<p>Hope this helps.<p>Tom P.
