Ok, so I hear that in 2001 the VW GTI 1.8T switched turbos from the K03 to the K03s making for a distinction between 2001 and 2001.5 GTIs in regards to performance and reliability. Does anyone know if the same holds true for the A4? I am looking at buying an early 2001 A4 but all of the specs I find simply tell me 170hp (20 up from the 2000 A4) and do not go into any detail about early versus late year model differences. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

The GTI's are the only us market car that got bigger compressor wheels on the k03(ala k03 sport) starting in the year 2001.

The MY2001+ A4's went from 150hp to 170hp, by raising the boost pressure from 7psi to 10.5psi.

I think nOyxl/Kyle's post seems to be the most accurate based on the other research I did throughout the day (I wasn't able to get the actual model number though...nice work man). It seemed like everyone I spoke to today had a slightly different answer...even the service dept of the Audi dealership here didn't know the answer or were too lazy to look it up for me. I really appreciate everyone's help; thanks for your time.

I just purchased a 2001 A4 about an hour ago! It's my first Audi and I'm stoked. I'm already starting to plan the mods...

So is it gospel that no B5 1.8T A4's EVER shipped with anything but a K03 non-sport?
