Default What other causes of steering wheel vibration are there?

I've replaced my tie rods to meyle heavy duty ones. I recently got a 4 wheels alignment using a hunter machine. I've also just gotten my 17" AVUS wheels rebalanced. The vibration was greatly reduced but it still vibrates annoyingly from 70 - 80 mph. I've had this consistent problem wtih 15", 16", 17", and 18" wheels. My car seems to always vibrate at those speeds. Would it have anything to do with my axles or driveshaft? I really don't know what else I can do to fix this problem. Thanks in advance!

Default I probably can't be of any help, but I was once told "if you go fast enough, it goes away"

how far have you pushed it upwards of 80 while you've had this issue?

Default Basic steps, start with the cheapest to most expensive last.

1. Make sure your wheels are straight.
2. Tire balance
3. Make sure you are using the proper wheel lugs, hub centric rings and the wheels are seated on the hub correctly.
4. Alignment & tierods if needed
5. Brakes - bad rotors or sticky calipers
6. Wheel bearings
7. Start replacing suspension parts.

Default Man, I would worry about getting the money to finish the hood paint first.

And maybe try getting rid of those weird black things on your bumper. Some kids skateboards are stuck on it.

How can I tell if my rotors are causing it? I replaced my oem ones with brembo.

Default I don't think anyone has mentioned upper shock mount bearing yet...

and those can cause what you are talking about. I have not had it happen on my A4, but did on my VW Jetta. The Jetta setup is not four link..but they still have strut/shock mount bearings similar to Audi. The bearing is in the mount, so you replace the whole mount if it is bad. They are around $15 bucks at ECS. I don't think it is your rotors. Typically, you will have that vibration when braking if it is a warped rotor. I believe it is either worn upper shock mount(s) or a bad control arm.

the vibration would be worse upon braking. The problem is most likely in the suspension. It's either the upper shock mount/bearing or a control arm.
