What size speakers fit in the back of the 2000 A4 non-Bose? Mounted from the top or bottom?

I'm pretty sure 6 3/4 or larger may fit.... (more)
For my 2001 A4... (2000 should be the same)
I tried an Infinity 652.1i 6 3/4 inch speaker in the rear deck. Though I had to remove it because I found out the hard way that the rear speakers are powered by the rear driver side stock speaker with attached amp.
Anyway, I wished that I had measured the exact size of the opening but I didn't. I can say that the speakers that I tried actually seemed a little too SMALL for the large opening. I had to use washers to keep the speaker securely in place.
I'm going to purchase some MBQuart adaptors to make them fit properly.
