Default What triggers brake pad light?

99.5 A4 Q, 2.8. A couple times in the last week I've seen the brake pad warning light in my LCD, like the one in this list. I have lots of pad on the fronts, about 1/8 inch on the rear, and the resevoir is between max and min. And I don't see any wires coming out of my pads to trigger this. I 'm thinking this is a false alarm, but how do I turn it off and what triggers it?

if you're sure you don't have wear-sensors the only think I can think of that could cause the light to flash is a faulty ground somewhere in the wiering-harness.

I hope you don't mind mtroxel if I provide a link to a search I just did that provides three pages on similar issues in many cases. Here it is if you should care to have a look. They may answer your questions and even more.

Sorry. Didn't search. One of them referred to Ross-tech. I have VAG-COM. I'll just disable the bastard. Thanks.

friend of mine made some modifications to his suspension and now brake pads keep lighting up time to time, some worn cable he sais. You could check that out also,
the pads activate when a metal connector inside the pad material touches the brake disk, and that happens when the pad is worn out, otherwise the metal con. is covered in pad material

Ok, but does your car have the harness/plug for the pad?

If you bought the car used the person before you could have bypassed the plug because they bought pads without the wear plug.

I'll take a look next time I get a chance. They only put those on the fronts - right?
