What are used stereo components worth these days?
I'm thinking about selling my aftermarket stuff and go back to stock to make the car lighter, which I have 4" + 1" Infinity Kappa 40.2cs component (fronts), pair of 5 1/4" JL Audio VR series mids, (2) 6" JL Audio custom enclosed subs for mounting in place of rear speakers, 65w x 4 channel US Acoustics USX-4065 amp (160 watts x 2 in bridged mode, which is what I did for good mid/highs up front, but would be better with a seperate amp on the subs that I never did.) with custom silver rack that mounts under rear deck between the subs. And, an OEM 6-disc CD changer (barely ever used it).
I did this because I wanted to keep the floor of my trunk open, still sound better than the Bose option, yet not be overwhelmingly heavy like 10" subs. Sure, it doesn't have that booming base, but it's not what I originally built it for. Now that this car is looking to no longer be my DD, it's time for it all to go to a new home. However, I have no idea what these things are worth since there are obviously newer Infinity and JL Audio models, but there are some custom pieces.
so, how much would be fair for each?
front components = $100?
mids = $100?
subs enclosed = $200?
amp w/ rack = $100?
changer = 100 quarters?
buy everything and the cables ($75) comes for free.
I remember everything adding up to $993 when I priced it. I'll never forget that number

<i>This setup works great with the non-Bose stereos or if you want to add a non-OEM headunit.
4" + 1" Infinity Kappa 40.2cs component, pair of 5 1/4" JL Audio VR series mids, (2) 6" JL Audio custom enclosed subs for mounting in place of rear speakers, 65w x 4 channel US Acoustics USX-4065 amp (160 watts x 2 in bridged mode, which is what I did for good mid/highs up front, but would be better with a seperate amp on the subs that I never did.) with custom silver rack that mounts under rear deck between the subs. If sold separately:
front components = $100
mids = $100
subs enclosed = $200
amp w/ rack = $100
changer = $100
If you have a B5 A4 with Onyx/Sport interior (and local), we can just swap front door cards that have the speakers custom mounted.
If you buy everything, all wiring and stereo adaptor go with it.

Sorry
I hope I didn't mess up any potential sales, I was just chiming in. I already have a full system, although I do like how you have your amp rack set up; that's a good idea. I have something similar, but with 2 amps. I don't think you'll have a problem getting $500.

you have pix of the fronts?
or something I could look up?
might be *slightly* tempted for the 4000. Front speakers are 4" iirc, and I have an amp in the trunk that has an open channel so I can run them through that... so JUUUUST curious

no, they're in the car. well, the 4" speakers are not.
I put in the 5 1/4" in place of them soon after installing the 4" because I thought they lacked mids since I took out the rears to put in subs.
So, the 4" speakers are practically brand new still in the box from 2001.

the 4"'ers in my 4000 are tinny as all hell...
but i'm not overly sure if it's worth it in the long haul... lol. They def don't have the ***** the 2 6x9s in the rear deck and the 2 10s in the trunk have
