It emulates the Volkswagen/Audi ODBII Diagnostic Tool which accesses your car's onboard computer sensors and settings. It will return and in many cases translate fault and diagnostic codes. Certain things are also adjustable via the VAG Tool, such as central locking and alarm behavior as in the Tech FAQ section of Audiworld.

There are a couple of ways to accomplish VAG tool capability:

1) Buy a real one. (Very expensive)
2) Build or Buy a Compatable ODBII - RS232 Cable and a VAG compatable adapter. Obtain proper software such as the program available from Ross Tech. Use that to do it all from your laptop. (Less than $200 for cable and software.)
