What is the vote on how often to change synthetic oil...
Some have said that 5K is fine, while others like
3K. What is the general agreement on this? Also do you guys change the filter every oil change or every other. I know what the dealer does, but i want your opinions.

depends on your driving conditions...
If you're mostly doing highway driving, then you can extend the intervals. If you're doing a lot of city or spirited driving, then you should change it sooner.
For me, it's mostly city driving (about 75%). I had my synthetic oil analyzed at 5K miles. Based on the analysis, the lab recommended that this oil would be good for about 6K miles, given my driving conditions.
I change oil and filter every 5K miles.

Synthetic oils will go far longer than a typical dino oil...
5K is more than sufficient, and is just as **** retentive as the old 3K oil change intervals that we grew up with. Oil filters should be swapped with the oil, regardless of what Audi recommends (sorry, this is one of those things that Audi will never convince me to do...leave the filter in for longer periods than the oil).
