I think I can save about 150-200 bucks by taking it to a local shop, but I am worried if they will be able to do the timing belt/ water pump/ tensioners properly. Is this a complicated job that should only be trusted to a qualified audi technisian?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If at all possible, take it to the dealer (m)
I'm a bit like you, kind of resent paying all that dough at the dealer when you (and they) know you could save money going elsewhere. But the big upside is that you will get peace of mind knowing genuine parts are going on it and that qualified techs are working on your baby. In the past with other cars I've gone to mechanics other than the dealer (or in the case of my Stang, bought stuff from sources who did not know enough about old muscle cars) and often lived to regret it through inferior parts or bad service. Just my $0.2, but keep it in mind. If at all poss, go to the dealer.
