What would be the best price to buy a 2001 Audi?
I included this text in one of my messages. Thought that this piece might not get good attention. So posting as a different thread.
Does anyone of you know any best dealer around Seattle? How much can I offer for a new audi? I am very bad at negotiation. I am wondering how much I can offer above the invoice price (or below the MSRP).
I am looking for a 2001 Audi + automatic + cold leather package + neon headlights; which is coming to
FWD: 24,430 invoice price and 27,290 MSRP
Quattro: 26,180 invoive price and 29,040 MSRP.
Has anyone bought a new one? could you tell me the price if you don't mind telling?
Another lame question: (sorry for such questions.)
In WA there is a 8.6% sales tax. Does it help if I buy in a 0% sales tax state and get the car over here? There should be something which doesn't allow this, right? Or else every one would drive to Portland (3 hours drive from seattle) and buy there.
Thanks,
Sunitha

Not so easy - few car deals are easy
I'm in the same boat. (Except -- Xenon NOT Neon lights)
For 2001s, they are asking about $400 under MSRP.
Also, cars are often sold before they get here...unless you are willing to wait 6-10weeks while they build and ship yours from Germany w/ your specified options, you get get to pick from what is on it's way to the lot...not what is even on the lot since nothing is there.
And, if you are a Washington Resident, you must pay sales tax either when you buy the vehicle or when you register it. Can get away with buying it in Portland and registering it up here w/o paying tax.
Good luck.
DJ

I got a reply to this.. Including it in the message
Buying in another state does not help, because they will collect the tax when you register the car.

Depending on local market conditions...anywhere from 4-7% over invoice is a fair deal.
Sunitha
