What would cause someone out in the snow to get blurry vision and loss of hearing?

and now he seems find. I ask because I figure you Yankees might know a little more about that kind of thing. Could it be disorientation from the glare off the snow?

I'm gonna stick with my original cause. ;-)
JK - I've gotten an earache before from jogging in very cold weather. Is it particularly cold? Loss of vision could definitely be due to the glare if he's not used to it and it's really sunny. Can be REALLY bad on a sunny day.

It could be something called Bell's Palsy that can be caused by cold. Direct cause is not exacly known, but it interferes with the senses and usually goes away on its own. Pretty common and nothing too much to worry about.
