Default I recommend Griot's

I've used a couple different clay bars. Some that you buy at the local parts store become real sticky and tough to get off your hands when you're working on the car.

I've switched over to using only Griot's Garage products on my car. Everything is so nice and easy to use and works very well. Sure, it may be a little more money than your typical Turtle Wax at the local auto store, but it's worth it. Once I do the clay bar (which I can do the whole car in about 20 minutes), and the polish, there is almost no effort involved to apply and remove the wax.

Clay bar is the FIRST step in detailing your car. Then polish and wax. You would not believe how smooth the finish comes out after using the clay bar.

Griot's Paint Cleaning Clay

Default Same here, I had these horrid corrosive looking deposits all over my side panels...

...after winter. It looked like the winter road grime had deposited some sort of metallic residue on my clear coat. The clay bar took it right off.

Interesting. I like Claymagic the best (from AutoZone) because it's soft - easy to work with.

Yeah, that's fine, you just have to make sure you give it plenty of lubrication.
