Default Whats the best way to flush coolant on my 1.8?

My car has gas leaking into the coolant somewhere and I need to flush it bad. Whats the best way to do this? And where are the bleeder valves?

Thanks!

Default I cannot imagine that being a sign of something being solved with a simple flush

Fix the problem, which is going to be ugly, then proceed to flush the system.

Default The problem (I'm guessing) Is the head gasket. I was going to flush and use Bar's Leak till I can

Till I can fix it.

Took it to the mechanic and he said that it was gas in my coolant. The tank is like a thick goopy yellow right now =\ I just spent 2k on the car so the head gasket will have to wait

Skip the Bar's leak. That's lunacy. Fix the car.

Default Agree with Nate, but this link may help...

Haven't done the coolant yet but maybe should. Most folks do it with the TB change.

Default I just spent $2300 on the car a month ago. Can't drop more into it for a while

So a temp fix will have to do =(

My mechanic recommended it so I'm gonna give it a shot. It works for aluminum blocks/radiators so it can't really hurt anything

Default it is MORE THAN likely just your oil cooler and not the head gasket.

find a used one and swap that out and see if it fixes it... or take it off and look

Default DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT put bars leak in it if you care about your car

If you do it will clog up the heater core, can plug up the radiator and just make a general mess.

I've done it on one car and will never again.

BTW, I'm a certified mechanic too, here's your second opinion.

Default My big question is how could it be the oil cooler if my coolant is turning yellow?

I'll hold off on the bar's leak for now...

Default Just did a visual inspection, I'll get pics tomorrow (More inside...)

I just did a visual inspection and it doesn't appear to be leaking around it or the hoses. It's quite clean. Seems like the oil leak may be above it though and a bit more towards the front of the block.

What else could cause oil in the coolant? could it be something internal in the oil cooler?
