I don't want to diss the TTer's at this point (hey, that's me too
But, the TTRQ did not fair well - I mean I was running it as fast as the volvo sedans out there
The course was very twisty, I mean too much hairpins. Never been on something like that. It was the type of course that you couldn't really get a good line going, but just battle with the handling of the car.
Anyway, 3 runs total - First run, I set the tire pressures kinda like the A4 to get some oversteer - 38 front, 41 rear. Big mistake. I oversteered big time through the whole course to the point where it wasn't fun anymore. Best time, 50 secs.
2nd run, tire pressures even (38,38). Took off, started driving through the tight twisties with very neutral handling - It was perfect, mild oversteer and controllable. Then I entered the boxes at speed, brake on the entry, then hard right. Car straightens itself out - doesn't like very very tight slaloms. Problem - left ESP on. Gets you out of trouble by straightening the car. Not good!. Stopped in front of cones, turn off ESP and resume. Time 52 sec.
3rd run. ESP off, tire pressures ok. I ran the first part of the course pretty well like I was getting the hang of this car. Even hit 3rd gear were a lot of folks redline in 2nd. Shift back to 2nd on the box, hairpin coming and what the heck? My brakes were not working. Wait, they are working but the car is moving forward. Clutch in, and check right foot to be completely off gas - RPM at 2000 rpm!! - DBW throttle STUCK! F#$%! rpm drops again, I just took her home not intending to run the course anymore. Time 52 sec.
My A4 could have come around in 48, maybe 46 sec. So, more work is needed with the TTR. Suspensions gotta go, gotta fix that stuck DBW problem, but APR never returned my emails or call. Maybe they are in SEMA? If nothing happens in 2 weeks, I'm sure MTM can fix it.
