Default What's the different between A4 98 -1,8t ---2000 1,8t ''motor''

On Saturday my timing belt just gave up,,,bad,,,I got 1,8t from 2000 audi but mine is 98 is it a big different??

It's the same engine IIRC.

Default It may not be. 98 was engine code AEB in MY 2000 there was also the ATW engine code

the primary difference in the timing blet area being the belt now drives the water pump as opposed to the intermediate gear. So if your water pump leaks you may freese up your bearing in your tensioner and cause a premature timing belt failure again. Allthough this is rare it is a possiblity. Just somethign to consider. BTW, make sure the up dated timing belt kit is used and not the old one.

DBW on the 2000, non-DBW on the 98...different I'd say...2000 has larger injectors etc...
