what regular maintenence is going to be required?

having said that audis are now cheap to maintain. at 60K you should expect to do the timing belt and associated items. front control arm are a good bet too. read the faq.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2299748.phtml</a

If you are really on a tight budget then go to autozone or order stuff (like oil filters) online. Probably better off buying oil at autozone as shipping could get ya. At 56k miles, and 6+ years the timing belt is a nearing concern. Audi says 80K miles, Audiworld conventional wisdom is 60k mile intervals. Make sure you do ALL related parts when do the timing belt. (belts, tensioner, water pump, thermostat) The full kit is roughly 300 from numerous vendors, I got mine from Purems.com, but ive heard good things about others as well. This is the route I chose, with the aid of a fellow AWer who I gave 100 bucks for his assistance/time. A shop will charge between 700-1000. Other than that, should be ok maintenance wise for a while. 56k miles on 01 is great, I'm at 116k, just over double! And thats where it gets much more expensive to own..

go with a local mechanic if you're not turning the wrench yourself. if so, buy your supplies from either a local auto supply or a smaller chain ie: advance, pep boys, or autozone. wal-mart is disgusting.
