Well, I just changed my oil today, went from Mobil 1 0w40 to the Castrol Syntec - took me a full 6 qts to fill 'er up to just about the middle of the oil level indicator on the dipstick. Anyway, my operating temp dropped from ~220-225 to ~200 @ consistent 70mph. Is this normal? 2.8 30v btw. Maybe due to the drop in ambient air temp (~40deg @ time of drive)?

Paranoia is a trait I've come to know well after owning this car and reading the threads in this forum. ![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I would guess it's the ambient temp. I've never seen a noticeable difference in temp when I switch from one oil weight to another.

And I'm using Castrol Syntec 5W-40. Of course, this gets thrown out the window when I start beating on it at the track, usually shoots up to 250.
