Default The wheel guide broke off in my hub...

I found a nail in my tire today. After driving to the dealer because I was not supplied with the tool to remove the lug bolt covers I swapped wheels. However I don't think I screwed the wheel guide in all the way and the wheel broke it off. So now I have about 1/4" of hollow plastic screw stuck in the hub. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Default Drill it out...

Once you get the drill into it, put it in reverse. More than likely, the drill bit will catch it and unscrew it.

Default easy...get an "easy out" ..home depot has them in the drill section.

basically its a reverse threaded drill (left hand) so as you drill it in (backwards) it actually is backing out the right handed threaded portion that is stuck.

Take a needle nose pliers and twist it out, thats what I did when mine broke, took 5 seconds.

Default It's plastic...

any of the suggestions in these thread could work. No need to buy special tools for this job.

Default Thanks for the suggestions (more)

I tried the needle nose route, but it's completely broken off inside the hole and I couldn't get it to take. I can't really cut a slot since the screw is mostly hollow. Maybe just cut it to the thread in a couple places and scoop out the parts?

one of the allen L keys from a set will perfectly fit the hole from the guide.

Default BTW, for the not-so-measly sum of $25, you can buy a stainless

steel piece from www.ultimategarage.com that will serve the same purpose. If screwed in properly, it will support a 50 lb wheel easily. I love this thing!
