Default Wheel/Tire Question

I have a 1998 A4 2.8....I am looking at a set of 18" Replica wheels with 215/45/18 tires. Will the tires fit my car (stock suspension) or are 40's the biggest tires you can go with 18" wheels?

Thanks!!

Default it may fit but your speedo won't be accurate

it also depends on the offset, and they are narrow. I say skip.

Default something is amiss with that tire size: 215/45-18?

Stock non-sport is 205/55-16.
Plus-0 is 225/50-16.
Plus-1 is 245/45-17 (or something close to that).

215 can't be right on an 18" wheel.

225/40/18 is the correct tire size.

Default

you should be doing 225/40/18....45 will through off the speedo on an 18" rim.

Default speedo off, blah, who cares.

All you have to do is do some math to figure out the speedo difference. Then open the cluster and adjust the needle. I refuse to be controlled by something so small like that. With that said, 225/40/18 is best for other reasons as well. I run a 235/40/17 and may run a 235/45/17 after my fender roll.

Default true enough...but that is for those who want to temper with the instrument cluster.

i'm rolling with the 225/40/18...its easy and I like the look. and it doesn't stretch the tire on an 18x8 inch rim. nor does it look chunky. and its an easy fit no dash tapping necessary
but I get your point.
