Last I heard (which was a long time ago), laser was tied up in the NJ court systems. Well, I'm browsing through the S4 forum, and someone had an encounter with an NJ trooper using laser! Anybody have any info?

On on Rt 3 pass Secaucus closer to Lincoln tunnel. One on Rt 287.
The only bright side is that the LIDAR guns are still relatively expensive over $10k each. So hopefully not all local piolice depts will be able to afford them. It seems that on the streets most of them are still K band.

system.
Unfortunately, most of the NJ troopers have been using outdated X band equipment, so they are long overdue to replace some of those units with laser. I suspect they will start upgrading soon. 1 in 10 cruisers with laser is deadly for the average guy like me who gets away from 10 tickets a week using a V1.
As far as locals go...there are many towns I go through that make a living off of writing speeding tickets. They can easily justify the $10K expense of a laser gun (just look at the state of Ohio...they've got everything and anything in their arsenal).
Call me worried! :-(
