Most likely you and him will need VAG-COM to recode and TBA

Sounds like who ever is buying needs to find someone experienced with A vag or a performance shop

Default If you sell it to someone with a 2001.5 1.8TQM just like your car no VAG is needed

same with getting your new ECU, no VAG needed if its from the same type of car. VAG will be needed to recode ECU from Tip to manual. Throttle body adaptation can be done easily without a VAG Com, just unhook the - connection of the battery for half and hour or so to reset the ECU, then hook it back up and turn the key to the on position but don't start the car and leave it for 2 minutes. don't touch the gas pedal during this routine, you will hear the throttle making small adjustments. Then, start the car up and let it idle for 2 minutes and you are good to go.

2 minutes is probably an overkill, but this is what I used to do before I had a VAG when I needed a TBA.

Default three mouse clicks? maybe four.

the instructions are on ross-tech's support section... look for 96-01 Audi B5 instructions.
