The new A4 is already out, by the way.
It's been available in Germany for several months now and is just appearing in other European countries.
(You didn't say "where"!)

it's north american debut will be in april at the NYC motor show. by logic it would have to go on sale sometime afterwards. since it is on sale in germany and it is said to go on sale in england very soon it would be logical to assume that any major production problems which audi would be afraid of affecting the NA market would have been established by april too. consequently it would be my conclusion that the B6 will begin arriving in our shores soon afterwards, perhaps in early june at the very earliest.
the best thing to do would be to continue checking with your dealer until "clues" appear...the biggest one will be that audi will stop taking orders for the current car and new order protocols will be established. audi would definitely have to start producing the NA marketbound cars en force by early june since it takes about 2-3 months from assembly-line to showroom floor transit and the 2002 model cars would have to be here in full force by mid-august in order for audi to start advertising the car; an extremely important affair because audi depends on the A4 the way you depend on your lungs for air-- and the A4 has to be available by then because the 3-series will be getting a facelift, the MB C240 will probably be turning into the C260 (which is what it really is) and the X-type and IS300 will be applying pressure of their own...
let me know if i forgot something!
