in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th? i always take mines up to about 3k. is that good or bad? this is my first car, and first stick shift so i wouldn't know these things. tia

Am earlier up shift might put you below of turbo range (below 1750 rpm where turbo is not effective). It'll feel like the engine is stalling and then you would feel a turbo-kick as rpms climb to 2000. Up shifting later is fine when higher acceleration is needed. Just make sure the engine is not cold.

Spirited drive with warm engine, about 4.5+k, city driving 3k or slightly less..

Usually around 4k, but during heavier traffic I short shift to 2nd @ 2K-2.5K, then it's back to 4k or so.
