Default How about Sears? You can buy Craftsman on-line also.

Default Did you try their website?

Not sure why your are looking for Snap-On in particular but I like Craftsman tools because of the lifetime warranty. I broke a socket from a Craftsman set I bought at another auto parts store, took it to Sears, and they replaced it no questions asked.

http://www.snapon.com/</a

Default Pull up next to the guy in the truck and buy from him. The dealers travel to local mechanics

and they have all types of stuff in their trucks.

Default no basic set is going to have the special tools you need...

A basic set can be had for $20-30... but its only going to have a limited set of sockets, and maybe some combination wrenches. I can assure you that the first job you try to tackle will stop dead in your tracks because you need 2 socket extensions or a deeper 15mm socket... or some other simple tool.

Off the top of my head there are alot of other necessities for even basic maintenance...
- alot of socket extensions
- a breaker bar
- hex sockets
- a brake caliper tool
- deep metric sockets
- a dremel kit (paid for itself 100 times over, too many uses to describe)
- torque wrench
- a long bendable magnet thingy (a must have for when you drop nuts and bolts into the depths of the engine bay)
- really large flat screwdriver for prying

I've collected all of the above by stopping in the middle of a job to run to the hardware store in my roommates car.
