Where do you check the transmission fluid?

Just got my first Audi and it is a little slow to shift in the morning. So, I thought, 'Check the Trans fluid!' I pop the hood look all over, remove the plastic engine cover...nope. Any ideas?

It's my understanding this can only accuratly be done at a dealer. Since I had my transmission replaced very early on I found out about the entire procedure.
The trans fluid must be at a certain operating temperature (within just a few degrees of a certain value to get an accurate reading). Then a measurment is taken with some device from under the car.
I was told this should never need to be checked if there were no obvious leaks or tansmission problems. There have been reports of strange shifting when the fluid was too high or to low.

The slow 1-2 shift is normal on first startup in the morning. There is a two minute time delay for warming up the engine. All of this is described in an Audi technical service bulletin.
