need them tomorrow and not a week from now.
i was told either pep boys or autozone should have them so i'm hoping they're right. other wise i'll just bring down the springs and have the guys at pepboys compress them and take them off and put the nes ones on for me.
we'll see.
thanks,
matt

Look for a big "placemat" on the counter....it'll have all the tools in their Loan A Tool program--strut spring compressor (part # 27036). Have fun!

I used the ones smallest ones that had at autozone, and they were still to big. There fine for getting the stock springs off, but the progressive winding of just about any aftermarket spring (i was doing H&R sports)is going to be to small. I know it is more of a PITA, but I wish I would have taken them off and brought them to a local shop. Their STRUT compressor is far superior, and safer.
If they have a small set it may work for you.

You probably want a Macpherson strut compressor. Not the same thing as a coil spring compressor. The coil spring compressors is for larger coil springs, like on older American cars and trucks. A Macpherson strut compressor is designed for the smaller diameter of the Macpherson coil. However, some Macpherson coils are still too small for some compressors. You'll just have to try it out or take the parts to a local mechanic and have him squeeze it for you.
