Default While looking through the downloaded Bentley manual ...thoughts on the TB job and TDC

why doesn't anybody here ever mention that there are top dead center markings on the cams that are visible when the valve cover is off. Since they leak anyway wouldn't it just be too logical to mention that while doing the timing belt to also do valve cover gaskets ? Then you could use the marking to insure your timing belt is done correctly and stop your leaks at the same time.

Agreed. Guess I didn't read that part of the manual.

Default In the section on valve train where it outlines using the 3366 tool on the cam chain

the marks on the cams should align when you secure the crank with a #3242 tool . You could then do the belt without the crossbar to secure the cams and just ensure the belt tension is correct and that the cam tdc marks are aligned when things are back together. After that point use a 3366 to secure the chain tensioner and replace the gasket and half moon seal and VC gasket (and repeat on other head if a 30V).

No marks needed on the 30v.
