Default Whoa, going to ask a very n00bish question (oil level related)...

So, I'm cusious, what DOES happen if yo over fill your oil????? I know the manual says "may damage catalytic converter" etc etc, but running a testpipe, what happens, it just burns off????

(I feel almost ashamed to have asked this, I'll go sit in the corner now with no dinner) lol

it also can cause the oil to foam in the crankcase = bad.

Default the crank will be spinning IN the oil causing it to....

foam, wich is not good at all, foamed oil, plus high Gs (wether lateral or because of acceleration/ braking) can even starve engine (oil pump) of oil causing damage.
also when the crank spins in the oil it causes tenticles of oil to swirl around and this causes noticeable power loss. Ive seen an action shot of an engine spun at high RPM w/o a pan and its amaxing how much oil whips around.
the soloution is a windage tray:

or a crank scraper:

on a V8 engine using a crank scraper can be worth as much as 15 hp at high rpms (above 5500)
hot rod magazine showed me how to amke one for $15 and an hour of my time, with tin, a drill and tin-snips, and no it dosent actualy "scrape" the crank, it juss keeps the oild from stayiong on it, there is some clearance.

Default Some P-Cars run them too. It cuts down on the "windage cloud" effect from occuring with high rpms

like you stated. I remember reading a while back about how oil can actually increase the rotational mass causing the engine to work harder. Was pretty much surprised but it was easily understood.

Default If you have the crank breather circuit hooked up and plumbed to the intake it can increase the

amount of 'earl' that makes its way through the pressure regulation valve (pancake vavle in the OE turbo intake hose) into the intake tract. If you have a catch can that won't likely be an issue.
A real man would find a crack ***** to suck a few ounces up the dip stick funnel.
