Yes, it's an insurance barrier. For example, the previous 3-series generation
had a 2.5l engine with exactly 193 HP (Europe only).
And why would the German car manufacturers build a higher performance
engine for a country where few people ever use the extra power ?
Not too many people have passed me at 150mph here in the US lately.
If people really cared they would not accept the M3 with a much weaker
engine. Try to sell one of those 240 HP models in Europe, forget it.

Steve
Hi Gus I live in Montreal too and my dealer told me that they can do the chip for me for $1500.00 cdn. I am also tempted to go with the Neuspeed because it seems less drastic on the turbo and there is also Autobraun that has the Wetterauer, I do not know if they still offer the 0.8 bar chip because they do not advertise it anymore. I have sent an e-mail to Autobraun last month and this is the answer that I got :
Pierre,
Thank-you for your inquiry into the Wetterauer performance chip upgrades for
your Audi.
The cost for the 200hp chip is $849.00 CDN plus shipping and the GST.
Good news for you is that in Alberta we do not have any provincial sales tax, so
it's like you're saving an additional 8%! All work is done right here in
our facility in Alberta. You do not need to change the K&N filter for the
Ram Air. We will give you a $35.00 rebate should you wish to go without the
filter.
Should you have any further questions about the Wetterauer product or any
other parts or accessories that we carry, or wish to make an appointment for
your ECU, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Vincent Braun
AUTOBRAUN Distributors, Inc. Maybe the Neuspeed, because even if I think that you can go as hi as 200 HP, I think that pushing the turbo to more than twice the output of stock might be pushing a bit much !
And from what I have read on this forum, a 0.8 bar chip might be sufficient since I intend to keep my car for long time. 180 HP sounds good to me!
Pierre

Have you called the insurance company and notified them of this hit-and-run? If so, I would call them back and make sure that have not noted it. I once had a similar incident and I was going to pocket the damages because it was my wife's third accident in just over a year. The insurance company had already noted this and told me that even if I paid for the repairs, the incident would still show up on my clue report. It would s**k to pay the claim out of pocket and still have it entered on your clue report.

That is an arrogant thing to say about working only on expensive cars. There are plenty good shops that work on all makes, where as I have seen those shops that claim to work only on "expensive" cars painting them on the floor. There is NO DIFFERENCE in repairing your 30,000 dollar audi, and the next guy's 15,000 Escort. A good shop would treat all cars alike. Do you consider a A4 as an expensive german car? I bet you that they dont.

I got the license plate number from a guy who was in the parking lot and witnessed the whole thing. I had the cop call me when he came on shift last night about 11:00PM. He doesn't seem to interested in helping any further. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Brad Bilut
