Why blank out license plate #'s on pict's???

Why blank out license plate #'s on pict's???
I have noticed a few different people blank out their license plate #'s when they post up picts of their cars? Is there a reason for this? Is there some risk to showing your plates? I was just curious because someday when I do up a signature pict, I was thinking of incorporating my license plate into it... "IGOZOOM"

Mod Hunters? Are you talking about warranty issues?
Why does AoA care about what mods we do? (except to deny warranty claims, right?)
My 70k beauty doesn't get a nice audi warranty.
(but I did buy an extended warranty from the dealer I got mine from. 3 years, 36k miles of super whammy coverage)

people that work at the DMV might be able to trace your address and jack your stuff......
i know this b/c i know someone that works at a local insurance company and he's into some fishy business like that........ luckily he's into japanese imports...... but hey you never know.....

What do you mean? My license plate is really like that....
It's simply etiquite.. I ALWAYS blank out the plate on other peoples cars that I post, and on mine, it's just so no one figures out my true identity... =)
It's the same thing, if you know someone outside of the forum, you usually use their screen name rather than their real name on the forum.
