It's a matter of personal taste. As an engineer I have an appreciation for form following function. For me, anything that doesn't add to the function of the car detracts from it, of course it depends on how you define a car's function... A rear wing is really superfulous unless you spend a good portion of your time at speeds over 120 mph. At low speeds (ie highway) the wing just adds drag. Also for a wing to be effective it needs to be in the air stream, above the roofline. Even with that there are better ways to improve the downforce of a vehicle. It's interesting to note that all the production cars built by Ferrari do not have rear wings, even though every one of these cars is more than capable of sustained 150 mph plus speeds. Ferrari spends a great deal of time and effort to engineer the "sixth surface" or underside of their cars. By using fly panels to channel air under the car in useful directions they can achieve the same roadholding effects of a rear wing without sacrificing the lines of the car.
For me I find the elegance and efficiency of a well engineered device beautiful. Nothing more than what is needed to get the job done in a superb fashion. That's the appeal of a "clean" rear deck to me.
People love spoilers and wings because they look cool, not because they need them. Much like the great finned whales of two generations ago. It's all a matter of personal taste and for your definitions the wing adds to the function of the car. Go with that and don't worry about the approval of others. It's your ride afterall.
