Default Why does my oil cap on the 2.8 have a white gooey residue on the top?

I also pulled my dipstick and there was a drop of white goo on it too. Is this coolant in my oil? If so what can i check to find out where the coolant and oil is mixing.

My coolant resivoir tank is totally clean. So it does not look like there is oil in the coolant.

Default It might mean you are either:

1. Not doing frequent oil changes
2. Doing too many short trips and the oil is not heating up enough

I would run a can of oil detergent about 300 miles before you next oil change.

Default Mines usually like that too, and i've been known to flog it pretty good.

when it's that cold out at night, nothing you can do. I wouldn't worry about it.

Default Posible blown head gasket

An opening between an oil passage and a water passage at the head gasket can let coolant water into the oil creating the white-tan goo that you see on the oil cap.

Default Do a search and see how many headgaskets have blown on 30v's

I bet you cannot find five, non-induced, seperate cases.
