Why does it suggest 225/45/17 constantly for 17's?

35's are for 19" rims if you wanted to maintain stock rolling diameter. If you do not, then your speedo will be off at the very least.
Remember that sidewall height is your protection against bending, and harsh ride...don't be so eager to drop the sidewall.
17's mean 45's
18's mean 40's
19's mean 35's
20's...well, them dubs, you don't need no rubba wit em![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

When you take a 35 series tire, figure 35% of the 225 width and you have your tire sideall thickness. That will rider rougher then a 225/40/18's. I'd say go with a 40 at the least, 45 is ideal.
A 225/35/17 tire will have a sidewall of 3.10"
A 225/40/18 tire will have a sidewall of 3.98"
If you think 18's are rough, then you are in for a HUGE suprise with 225/35/17's.
