Why does the Xenon HID light color fade out?

I have OEM Xenons and was wondering why the HID "purple haze" color they emit dyes off after about 5 seconds? Is this because of the auto-leveling? Sometimes they don't even look like HID's... is there a way to keep them "purple" without having any adverse effects? Would eurospec S4 housings help?

They do look purple...from far away at an angle. It's optimal to keep them white as it is better to keep them close to daylight in the light spectrum.

those cheap over-wattage, blue painted bulbs that the ricers use because they want to look like they have Xenons. Of course, if you do this please trade in your A4 for a Civic.
