Default Power seats too. Why? So suckers like me can spend $5k more to get them in the V6. It's nice of them

to throw in the larger engine as well. :-)

To keep the 2.8/3.0 the "luxury" model.

Default Because they want to sell you $5,000 worth of V6 engine and interior features too.

It seems Audi decided that if you want leather, then you're a luxury-minded kinda person who'll also want the V6, wood dash and power seats. And if you choke on the price of those features, well, you don't deserve to have leather in the first place.

Reminds me of that scene in "L.A. Story" where Steve Martin is being "interviewed" by Patrick Stewart, playing the maitre d' at that "exclusive" restaurant. "You may not have the duck! You may have the chicken!"

Seriously tho, it's just one of the ways Audi distinguishes the 1.8 from the 2.8 (and now the 3.0). It's about more than just the engines.

Default There's always the aftermarket option. About the same price as factory leather, I believe.

I haven't installed aftermarket leather, but a few people here have. I seem to recall someone saying that you could get it for in the range of $1,200, which is about what Audi charges for the leather option. But don't think of it as spending $1,200. Think of it as saving $5,000!

I swear I changed it when I got in & while driving. I wish I had the memory seats from my Legend.
