Default I converted from Honda........

had troubles with my Hondas....under warranty clutch, suspension issues.
I was hesitant to to the German car thing and I'm 100% happy with my 98 1.8T 5spd. I have had control arm, seat-air bag, turbo valve solenoid, radio, seat ****, headlight washer motor, both outside mirrors all replaced under warranty except for the mirrors. I took care of that. Any car can have trouble even Japanese. A good service department can make a world of difference. I switched from the purchasing dealer to one in North Jersey. That change has made my A4 ownership MUCH more enjoyable. These guys know how to fix cars and treat customers !!

Default I've heard horror stories for Volvo as well..

They have a rep for running a long time, but they do require service.

Actually I've heard some bad things about every car company. IMHO getting a good dealer than can sort out whatever problems you will have is most important.

Default Sorry man, I guess it's bad luck, good luck with another car

I'm personally worshiping Audi qualitiy, this is my 4th Audi, starting from a 78 4000 with 300k miles on it, then an imported 85 UrQ, then an 87 5000S ( still have it, 466k
on it and it still goes ), and this A4.
I guess it depends on luck and also the dealership you take it too.
No car is build perfect, there are ocasional bad examples.

I would personally not give up on Audi that easy, but look into Volvos they are known to be reliable, again depends on luck.

Lots of luck, and I hope that one day you will return to an Audi Family again

Default I've had numerous problems, and I'm not sure if I would buy another Audi.

However, I have to say that I have received mainly excellent service from Audi of Arlington (formerly Heishmann's). Whenever I have had a problem it was fixed with little fuss from the dealer. I think this is an important point when considering what car to buy.

As others have written, all car makes have problems and occasionally produce a lemon. What makes a difference is what the dealer does when you are the one who ends up with one of the lemons. I've heard that many of the Japanese car dealers have terrible service.

Just my $0.02

Default Understandable...I preach the same about Fords I've had the displeasure to be...(m)

involved with...

As for me, I have many problems with my MY01, which annoy me to no end. The worst is when the damned dealer says, "They all do that." Why? Because I had a 99.5 that was PURRRRFECT and had none of these rattles, buzzes, squeaks, stutters, wind noise, etc...

I'm not sure what I will do on the next one...I certainly won't buy a car built right before the factory's month long vacation, that's for damn sure...
