When I start up the car, the odometer flashes "INSP" for about 10-15 seconds, then goes
back to normal mode. I have 13,300 miles on it, and am due for next service at 15k.
I did have the service done at 7500 miles......does this mean they didn't reset it??
Or is it just warning me about the impending 15k service?? seems a bit much...
Thanks much..
Neal
98.5 2.8QM

Mine's doing the same thing: I'm at 13,900 and the "service insp" started flashing around 13k. I think someone mentioned some time back something about service guys setting it to come on in terms of miles instead of kilometers, thus making it come on too early. Don't know if that's true or not, but I'm just ignoring it till I get a little closer to 15k.
- Roger
- 1.8tqm

I have a 98 2.8 QM. When the odo hit 14,300 miles I got a "oil service" warning. According to the service tech, the computer will display a service notice as much as 600 miles before a service is needed. They told me to bring the car in and they did the 15k mile service early.
Mick

INSP, like OIL, is an indicator the car displays to tell you a service is coming due. Based on your mileage and how close it is to mine, I bet it is your "one year service" reminder. The OIL one will come on at your oil change intervals (although I have heard it usually comes on late, so if you change the oil at the correct time you won't see it?), so INSP is probably set to turn on a year after the battery is connected or something... Which is about right for my car (two weeks from its birthday, and INSP turned on last thursday)
