Default Why no S3 in U.S.A. Dealer comment:

First honest, friendly and knowledgeable car sales person I ever met (no offence to you car sales people out there... just never met ya'll ;-)) just told me that the reason AOA won't bring the S3 to the US is as follows:

There is too much interest in it and Audi couldn't keep up with demand.

Could be speculation but makes weird paradoxical sense. Right?

Default which, by the rule of S&D.. they could jack up the price and still sell a lot.....

i would have paid the same amount (if not a little more) for a S3 as i did for my A4, even though they are valued at less... so i don't think thats the ONLY reason... but a relatively good one if nothing else

Default Also, with gas prices in Europe as well as parking spaces...

Europeans would buy premium compact where here in US majority of people would not likely to buy something that expensive for such a small car.

Default That's not why Audi isn't selling them in the US.

They're keeping all of them for themselves. Simple as that.

if you had one, would YOU want to share?

Default I really doubt it

Upscale hatches never sold well in this country, ask BMW about the 318 for details. I would also think it'd compete a bit too much with the 225hp TT and Golf GTi VR6.

Default I never really understood that philosophy...

You don't want to compete against yourself? Why not? You still get the $$ in the end regardless. In fact it gives the market the opertunity to dictate what should be built and sold. Same (IMHO) stupid reasoning keeps the only nice GM product, Opel, outside these United States.

Default thats easy

Nothing wrong with some internal competition, granted. But if you have 5 different products with 5 different names and body's that are the same, what's the point? Its inefficient, there's lots of overhead, what it shows is lack of central leadership and control. What am I talking about? General Motors.
