Default to indicate direction/side of the vehicle
If you are ever in heavy fog and traffic, you can often get confused what side is the driverside... thus the light on the one side

There is only one rear fog light for use on the autobahn or highway when its foggy. Its so people know to pass you on the left.

Default you can make a second rear fog light...
Its great to have 2 when you have someone riding your *** they jump right off when you turn on those dual rear foglights :- P
