i just did the calculations cause im avoiding work and 245/40 is definitely closer than 245/45 but you are correct 255/40 is the closest.

the next step up from 225/45/17 with the same circumference is 255/40/17 (which probably wont fit)

235/45/17 is the widest you can do on S4 Avus (7.5 wide et 45). Some 235 rubs, some fit OK.

It really depends on your wheel.

i wish our car was like others where you could change the ECU's calibration on tire size.

i run, 235/18' on my 01 a4 on all four corners with the sport oem suspension, no rolled fenders, no rubbing, no issues, except for tire wear, but i think thats a camber issue since i have over 110 k on the suspension
