Will chipping my 1.8T improve performance at low rpm's?
Reading about chips, it seems cars with Turbo see their performance and hp enhanced a lot more with a chip than cars without Turbo.
Thus, will the chip only make a noticeable difference when the turbo kicks in, or will I also notice better performance at lower rpm's (less than 2000 rpm) ?
I feel I already have good acceleration above 2000 rpm,and that's with a stock 1.8T with auotmatic transmission. It's just so sluggish off the line.

yes
Depends on the chip. I have a APR 1bar and the HP/torque curves kick in around 2800 all the way up to 5500RPM.
Its sweet!
Other chips have different torque and HP power bands. Check out audizone.com for a great summary.
Lots of this info is avaliable by searching the archives.

Turbo's have to spool up...
The chip helps with increaseing the amount of air forced into the engine. You will have a little more noticalbe "turbo lag" with a chip BUT when the power comes in the car will have a harder push to it. You just have to learn how to keep the car up into the rmp range that keeps the turbo spooled up so you can reduce the amount of lag produce between shifts. You will not get any more low rpm hp because of the turbo set up. Heck most of the non turbo audi's I have driven have suck-*** low end tq. My 95 90S 2.8 V6 wouldn't dial in untile about 3000 rpm.
