will i be able to put an ecu froma 99 1,8t into my 97 1.8t?

Default will i be able to put an ecu froma 99 1,8t into my 97 1.8t?

my friend had a 99.5 1.8tq and he had a chip installed in it, and i was wondering if i could put his computer in my car and it would work, i have a 97 1.8tq also. thanks, geoff

wasn't there some changes to the ecu programming b/w 97 and 99.5

Default Yes, also consider transmissions, for example...

tiptronic 99.5 ECU's will not work with automatic 97 ECU's.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/larryescortsig.jpg">

Default There are numbers on the outside of the ecu. if they match, it shoul be ok.
